Special Integration Group on Systems Applications in Business and Industry
International Society for the Systems Sciences at Crete, July 2003

[Monday, July 7] | [Tuesday, July 8]

The roundtable sessions for the Special Integration Group on Systems Applications in Business and Industry took place on the evenings of Monday, July 8 and Tuesday, July 9 at the 2003 ISSS meeting at Hersonissos, Crete.

From November 2002 through January 2003, potential themes for the face-to-face discussions in Crete were discussed online. The Potential Topics for the SABI 2003 Roundtable led into a discussion of dichotomies and messes. From this, two major themes were considered: Simple Rules vs. Social Negotiation, which wasn't met with much enthusiasm; and Change via Inquiry vs. Social Networks, which led to further exploration.

Through May 2003, papers were contributed. These were clustered into themes, by June 2003, as described at ...

Between the final posting of the papers, and meeting face-to-face in Crete, there was some additional online dialogue on the topic of governing.

At Crete on July 7 and July 8, the audio for the sessions were recorded. These are available on request from the SABI SIG chair, burned as MP3 audio files onto a CD-R. Since each audio file is 2.5 hours long (and over 70Mb in size!), the written digests provided below may be helpful as an index into the content.
